Careers
Applying for any job can be daunting. This page is designed to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision about applying to join us.
Welcome!
Here at Advancing Analytics, every day is different.
One day you might be delivering a Data Lakehouse architecture, the next you could be performing a gap analysis on someone else’s project, or helping run the stand at a conference, being in a video on YouTube or building bikes for charity at one of our away days.
4 grades, no secrets
At Advancing Analytics one of our values is transparency, nothing is hidden here – including our salaries – so everyone knows where they stand.
We currently have four levels for consultants:
-
Junior Consultant
Our Juniors get involved in a variety of projects to broaden their experience rapidly.
You may join as a Junior Data Engineer and help on a Data Lakehouse project; you may start as a Junior AI Consultant and work on implementing a Large Language Model.
We’ll encourage you to experience different areas so you can get to know what you love most.
-
Consultant
Most of our consultants are “T-shaped”, meaning they understand a little about a lot and have a deeper understanding of one or more tools, processes, or capabilities.
-
Senior Consultant
The “go-to person” for specialist subjects. Typically holding Microsoft and Databricks certifications, they run analytics projects, lead workshops and client discussions.
-
Principal Consultant
Experts in their chosen domain, Principals own technical and commercial relationships with customers and are trusted to perform deep architecture reviews, providing valuable recommendation roadmaps to our clients.
Interview Process
Unlike many tech companies who have five or six rounds of interviews, we only have two. We feel that this is enough for us to know if you’re right for Advancing Analytics, and vice versa.
First interview: “Getting to know you”
We will invite you to a 30-minute chat with our People Recruitment Manager. This is an informal chat to understand who you are and your experience. Interviews should never be one-sided, and this is also your opportunity to see if we’re right for you too.
Second Interview: Technical Competency
In this final stage, you will chat to two team members, who will ask about your previous projects and how you implemented them. In our view, this is better than a technical test as it tells us more about you and whether you’d be a good fit.

Remote-first work model
Remote working allows us to hire the best team,
regardless of location. It means less time commuting and more time
delivering value for our customers.
Most importantly, remote-first means that we can all still do what we love the most - walk our kids to school, have a long run or hit that early workout class, or simply have an extra coffee with our loved ones before starting our work day.
We might be remote-first, but we have a strong company culture that we love to nurture, and this is how we help to maintain it:
Away Days:
We meet in person three times a year to
go over the company goals, direction and growth. We put faces to names,
we socialise and build team bonds! In the past we’ve stayed in a country
manor, visited escape rooms and spent time in Centre Parcs. We have
honed our team work skills whilst building huge marble runs and also
some bikes for charity.
We also love events! We host our own, annual ‘Advancing Innovation’ conference and sponsor/attend multiple events throughout the year – which are always a great way of catching up with our team and the wider community.
Regular Team Events:
Just because we’re not
physically together doesn’t mean we can’t meet up remotely for fun
activities! We have previously turned our skills to doughnut decorating,
neon light designing, a Lego workshop and games nights!
Daily Meets:
Being remote you sometimes miss just
chatting about what you watched on Netflix last night or what you did at
the weekend! We kick off each day with an optional get-together where
we chat about anything and everything; and we get together for a wind
down on Friday – all hosted in our virtual office space!
